return me

I curl up tight and try to hide
The roaring fears that lurk inside
They speak of each weak part of me
My childish insecurity.

The mask has slipped;I'm losing face
I'm on my way to fall from grace
I've gone too far and burst the seams
All on earth can hear my silent screams.

The burning urge to please my peers
Was bringing out those locked up fears
I worked so hard so I could be
The perfect one they want to see.

My aching mind can't take the pain
I'm crying out against the rain
They stop and stare with vacant eyes
Their faces are blank
As the strong girl cries.

Beautiful hair and flawless skin
I wanted that and to be real thin
Craving,slaving,knowing the pain
I struggled so to win the game.

But then the strain began to show
The manic highs,the depressing lows
My soul laid bare for all to see
I reach to the world with a wordless plea.

And as I let go with nothing said
I change and feel they want me dead
The black sheep shameful and rejected
Left outside,alone,neglected.

Better rewind and take myself back
Cross my fingers that the wall w'ont crack
Pray I break down only in dreams
Where only the sandman hears my screams.
