There is a hypothesis where it is argued that our brain stores information in our memory as a Hologram which is a 3D image which can store informations about phase difference in the form of optical interference. But in that case who would decode the interference patterns to generate informations about 3D surroundings, hence there must be an observer to judge the content of that memory!
